Hey killcrap... I was killin time at work today and decided to try out something I was curious about with ISTA-P. I decided to hook up the 4.6is and tried going through retrofits and converting from US to Canadian, thinking there may be a chance of getting the added features of euro specs through car and key memory after that... no go.

The conversion took, but it lost my car and key settings (as expected). The problem from there was that neither ISTA-P not progman could read the CKM settings, and both gave the same error message. So just converted back from Canadian to US and the CKM went back to normal.

Do you know the route to pull the ZCS through ISTA? (I ask because I have an ISTA terminal right by my stall, but the only remaining progman terminal is in another building)

you should be able to see it on the final report, if you recoded the car. If not go on PuMA and go to vehicle info and type in your vin to Pull up the original Zcs code. BTW there is nothing euro about Canada coding, it just turns on your DRLs and sets the cluster to km and some of the temps to deg centigrade. If you want I can send you a custom Zcs code for euro models but you would loose the alarm function. You can use Progman with backdoor e32 to recode the IKI control unit to accept the Zcs code.

Smile Diagnosis bus error

Hi all,

I'm getting an error message when using the GT1 head and DIS pics attached, this is my first time to use the GT1 head and the DIS. FYI the GT1 head was sent back to Yohotech for repair a couple of months ago.

Please help! thanks in advance

cheers,

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the head using Connection Setup?

You will get an error message on early X5s if you use the OBD plug under the dash vs using the round connector under the hood, but it would be a different error message... can you try using a different cable between the head and the PC?

I also receive a diagnostic head failure in overrall test but it does not affect operation of the head. I can't remember whole fault code but yours seems to be different then mine.
So there is no confusion you did a software disconnect/connect in admin. section of DIS not a physical connection?

my X5 is 2001 4.4i, how do i know if i have the other round ODB under the hood? where exactly is that location? my GT1 head comes with the other round connector though.
what do you mean by this? "can you try using a different cable between the head and the PC?" there is only one cable included in the package that connects between the head and the laptop which goes to ethernet port of the laptop (white cable).

thanks

yep, but it is weird where the system says it can reach the GT1 head connection setup in admin then 'test' as you can also see it in the second image but when i run the diagnosis for a quick test or any individual test i always get this message. am i missing something?

thanks

Alpina B10 V8 Touring is on a distinguished road
Greetings! I was wondering if you guys have tried recoding the navigation of the E53? I have a Mark III navi unit in my E39 540. I know it has basically the same hardware and the procedures might be the same albeit I have to enter a different vehicle. I was thinking of changing the voices, the provider settings, the region, etc. The original German settings reverted back to European settings which can happen when playing around in upgrading the software version but then having to downgrade to a lower version and then upgrade again to the latest version. My stealership has the latest v55, I think, of the GT1 but that cannot program or code. I might be able to get my hands on a v43 for a while. I was wondering if you guy can post pics to guide me since I am not that familiar with the system. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers!
