I see a number diferent options for GT1 hardware:
from ~$150
China ECU Tools Centre
to ~$600 and UP...

any one has experience with the first one? what are the limitations?

i emailed another person on the list and filled out the order form. If i dont hear anything by this week I'm going to look elsewhere. Anyone bought from someone else and had good luck?

got my package today. Put in the hard drive and went to the truck and plugged in the head. Configured the ip address and so forth. it recognized the head and then got the low voltage message. I'll try again tomorrow with my battery charger hooked up. i'm excited.

Great! When I first got the GT1 I didn't normally run into the low voltage problem. However, the last several times I used it I got it a lot too. Sometimes it will allow you to connect (with low voltage) but then it can't automatically recognize all the vehicle options.

So, I'm glad I got a battery charger/UPS too.

Has anyone successfully used the laptop GT1 on a E60 5 series car? I tried to diagnose my dad in law's 2006 550i and it could not recognize the car. No problem with my 4.8is though.

When you selected 5 series did it have E60 available as an option? If so, what error or message did you get? What version and what were you using? DISv? or SSS v?
