Quick question, took my girl to BMW and they told me my screen is working perfectly fine by the mk3 fried out. I have a friend whos selling his for 250$ i am about to buy it, can i just disconnect the old mk3 and connect the new one and it will work? or do i need a bmw tech to install it and do some coding. is it plug and play?

The way to order from Eurotech is:
1. Request a quote from them detailing the part number you want Currency and delivery destination.
2. They send you a quote which you consider.
3. Reply to Eurotech accepting their quote and giving them your Paypal user name.
4. They will send you a paypal invoice.
5. You pay the paypal invoice
6. They ship your item and you will recive it in a few days.
It all works quite well.

I specifically requested this part when I ordered it from Eurotech/Cinderella.

The replacement part has no LQ type model number on it. It worked well for me (2nd picture below). After four months of use, my only complaint is that the screen absorbs many cleaners, leaving a semi-reflective film that is a problem in bright sunlight. Windex removes the film and returns the screen clarity.

Got my screen today and did the swap. Took about 35 minutes taking my time. The new screen works perfectly, and its nice to be able to read my nav again.

Nav screen issues

I installed a new Mk 3 nav screen and put it back together only to find I have the same damn issue. The Nav unit works fine, just no backlighting. I tested the light sensor in case that was the issue but it fine.

I now have a spare screen with no dead pixells in great condition if anyone wants it.

I would still like to fix this problem, i have now confirmed that the nav unit works fine but still no back lighting. I have done the following:

> Replaced the screen that seemed to be working fine with a new screen - same problem
> I have checked all brightness adjustments
> I have tested the light sensor is working correctly

If anyone has any ideas of what to try next please let me know.

Cheers
Dean

I think I posted this before: most probably it's your backlight inverter (or whatever you call it in english).
The replacement LCD comes with the CCFL around it, which lights it up. This is powered by the inverter, which is on a different board inside the nav display unit. If it dies, even if you come with a brand new backlight, it will not power the backlight and the LCD will still be dark. The repair is not complicated and most of the electronics repair shops should be able to handle it.

Thanks for the advice Chas,

Can you point me to where I should find the backlight inverter?

I think I need to get a replacement board on the header unit for the Mk3 nav system to solve my backlight inverter issue. Does anyone have one to trade or sell?

Cheers
Dean
