See post # 9 here. http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...on-screen.html

Might be worthwhile to pick his brain.

Bwahahahahaha! He lives literally one town over from me. I think I'll be giving him a call today and see if I can pick his brain a bit about this.

Well, called the nav screen guy. Long story short, I highly doubt that he does it himself, as he would not let me wait for it to get done or would sell me parts.

What he most likely does is package up your radio, mails it off to United Radio in Syracuse or some other similar outlet, and they fix it.

That's strange. When I spoke to him he seemed very forthcoming with information and insisted that he does all the work himself.

Yeah, well, if I was being a middle man I would claim it too. I just did it, and the swap is quick enough to do that it can be done in well under an hour if you're good.

Anyway, back to topic. I located someone in Taiwan that has the EXACT OEM screen, but I will need to buy in bulk. So far, for a sample he's quoted me 190, and I'm negotiating to see what I can get it down to. Who's down for replacements so that I can get a bulk rate for us all?

Good idea. Set up a group buy on the Group Buy forum. BTW, did you find out if there are any improved screens by any chance (seeing that we came up with quite a few part numbers that were all pretty close to each other), because I'd certainly be interested in getting a better screen that is MUCH brighter than the lousy one in the car right now, and one that actually dims and gets brighter as it is supposed to do. Heck, I'd pay more than $200 if such one existed and was available.!

To be honest, after this past experience with my screen, I just want OEM and haven't looked around for anything else.

I agree with you, I'm just saying that If the original company (Sanyo wasn't it) introduced an updated screen with more contrast or better color, etc. with all the exact same specs [especially] including the viewing angle, then I'd go for it, practically regardless of cost. The way the screen gets washed out in even moderate sunlight is my single biggest (of a total of 2) complaint of the X5's interior.

Hoping to get a clear answer on this as well. I have contacted the KecoTech folks and plan to order one if my warranty doesn't cover it. So can anyone (OP?) confirm LQ065T9BR53U is the latest revision that works in the e53?

If there is a newer (better) revision I also would be willing to pay more! Surely any version of this should be better than what I have currently (dim and bleeding) though.

Thanks in advance!
