ravic, your dimensions are not correct. It seems that you used a very thick MDF.

The top box external dimensions should be 27x28x11cm
If we deducted the MDF thickness (1cm average) it should be 26x27x10cm = 7.02 litres

The bottom box external should be 28x24x6cm
Internal 27x23x5cm = 3.11 litres

Total is 10.2 litres approx

Pioneer says minimum 9.9 - recommended 12.7 - maximum 19.8

So we are within the range.

The sub would not fit from the face if it is 25.2x24.4cm as u mentioned. The outer diameter of the sub is 27.8cm

Should'nt your MDF thickness avg be 2CM (to account for both sides)?

I am using a MDF of 1.8 CM and 1.2 CM thickness (Same as what carlgo used). That is probably is even lower on mine.

Wonder what happens it if it slightly lower?

External dimensions are exactly same as you mentioned.

I just installed it in my X, It barely fits in there. Not even a mm gap on the left and right side.

Also, I was able to fit the Alpine MRP-M450 amp in the area where the GPS and stuff are typically installed. I was worried that M450 would not fit, since M350 was slightly smaller in size.

But once you remove one of the mounting brackes off the amp it should fit.

I guess we are ok with a slightly smaller box

can't wait too ... go wire it up man!

As long as your external fits perfectly then there is nothing to worry about. I used 1.8cm for the sides and 0.8 for the face and back.

Question about powering the amp.

I see a blue/white box to the top left of the spare tire. Is that where we need to power our amp from? How do you open that box?

I do not see a green box. My X is a 2004 model.

Thanks

If you see a large red wire going inside the box from the left side then pobably this is the same box with a different colour. You open it by popping the white cover towards you. You should find some empty slots there waiting for you.

You can still wire directly to the battery but this will involve a lot of work (taking the spare out and removing the air suspension pump)

I just finished installing the sub and amp. It sounds awesome.

I have an aftermarket NAV system (Pioneer AVIC-F90BT). So i am using the Sub RCA Pre-outs coming from the head unit. There are a lot of controls in the head unit to control the output to the sub.

It sounds pretty decent with the current settings. But, I think it needs some tweaking on the audio side.

Here are some more tips for future modders.

1. Blue/white box in the top left corner of spare tire is the power distribution block (2004+). You do not have to remove the spare tire , but removing is will make it lot easier to work with.
2. You need to aquire a 5mm nut to fasten the positive cable to the power block.
