Thanks for the suggestion, turns out it was a bad DSP.

I received a replacement DSP but did not even try it, since everyone including Dice, kept telling me I should not need the DSP module for my year and model X5. (2006 X5 4.4 sport with business CD)

On a whim, before sending everything back, I hooked up the new DSP and bam! AUDIO.

So I am now happy.

I'd like to install an AUX input on my '02 X5. I believe it was a Jan 02 build though, and has the "business CD" but no changer or DSP. Is there a kit I can use?

Don't have a changer, just the in-dash unit, so it's not a worry.

I think I have read every article on this thread which has been very helpful but I am still having issues with my new DICE Silverline in my 2006 CPO X3 (E83). The problem is I get text, I get audio, but after several minutes, the radio decides it has had enough of me enjoying my IPod and it would like to listen to some really crappy FM radio.

I can switch it back to IPod which works a couple of times but eventually, all I hear on the CD-Changer source are some chirps and a message saying CD Check intermittently. Eventually, there is no CD Changer mode available at all. To resolve this issue, I have to stop the car, reset the DICE, and reset the IPod but then it starts all over again. I have tried the full battery reset, I have made sure that I plug the DICE unit in via 6 pin, then 3 pin. I make sure I wait 30 seconds for the DICE to initialize. What am I missing here? Do I just have a defective DICE unit... a defective car stereo, or perhaps a defective installer (me)?

Installation

Initial: DICE was plugged into the console using the non CD-Sars connection and radio used the original non CD-SARS 12 pin plug. This led to the same behavior as described above but IPod play was limited to 10 seconds instead of 10 minutes. When I switched the 12 pin plug I could not get audio out of the console area using either 6 pin connector.

Current: DICE is plugged in the rear cargo area with the wiring run along the base board to the console as recommended on this thread. The 12 pin plug was switched on the back of the BMW radio to use the CD-SARS connector.

I really appreciate any help although it seems many people do not have the SAT ready configuration.

Some BMWs are a bit temperamental during the initialization process. Perform the following steps:

1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.

Let me know if these steps correct the problem.

I tried this last night (based on one of your previous posts) and I attempted this again after receiving your message. However, I still get the same results. DICE support recommended trying to use Text Display 6 (Nav) for some reason so I tried that as well. One thing interesting is that when the radio switches to FM and then I switch back to CD changer, the radio says CHECK CD and I cannot select any of the disk numbers. Then the radio gives up and I can no longer here the music after it clicks a bit.

You think maybe because I have an older car and a newer DICE unit, this is causing compatibility issues?
