New tyres

[I believe the tyres of the new X5 don't last long i have red here on this forum from some one in the USA , i have done 12k and i think an other 5k and i am due for new front tyres.
It's my intentition to replace the run-flats with normal tyres as i have a spare wheel. can any one advise what brand/type to take ??
I hope the normal tyres will be less bumpy on the 19" wheels and also quiet no noise.
Could i have ordered the X5 without the runs-flats??

Smile Tyres comment and new car details

I have had my X5 diesel since October last year, very happy with all aspects. Details as follows: Space Grey, Black interior, bamboo trim, Sun roof, self level suspension, comfort access, comfort seats, running boards, Alarm, anti dazzle'fold mirroes, Bi-exenon lights, headlight washers, adapative headlights, high beam assist, nav system and rear camera, Hayman reece towbar, elestric brake controller, external tow mirrors, luggae space insert, mud flaps, floor mats, cargo net, windows tinted and finally paint protection.
18 inch rims Michelin run flat tyres, dealer advised to run at 250 kph which is about 50kph higher than shown on chart on door. Currently 9,000km no sign of wear hope that keeps going at $750 a tire.

Picked up the replicas from ABI wheels in Sydney for $2800 including Yokohama Advan ST rubber in OEM staggered sizing. Wheels are good quality with only a few casting imperfections on the inside if the wheel spokes, nothing visible when on the car, and the Yokohama rubber rides much nicer than the Bridgestone RFTs.
Are you keeping the OEM's???

Having driven it, the handling leaves my 4.8is for dead. Turn in is so planted and body roll almost nonexistent. And here's the kicker, it's QUICKER than my 4.8is......
LVR - i hate to correct people but but Its not Quicker
I have the 4.8is too, and the 4.8i is about .5sec slower
I have dragged both cars with us planting both and the 4.8is is still quicker all round
Not to mention the pointer feel, more responsive acceleration etc

However the 4.8i is a better all round car, I agree

I just got back from the gas station after checking the tyre pressure in the new tyre my dealer put on a couple of days ago, they had put 40lbs in it so I topped it up to 42lbs.

I ran 42lbs in my old E70 as well and they were Dunlops whereas this are Bridgestones and had no problems.

Howdi

Well, I guess if you start correcting people you kind of take the risk someone might just lop off the limb you're out on.

I said quicker than MY 4.8is, which if you do a search on some the posts I have written talk about the fact that my E53 had detonation and significant power loss (due the constant retarding of ignition by the BMW service people), the handling was faulty due to sensors and a computer that was on drugs.

Hence after a long process and on the eve of litigation the dealership, BMW Australia and myself did a deal to trade it in for newer models...

As for the comparison between the two you have conducted, that's been debated at length and everyone has their own opinion.

Your opinion is respected.. extend the same courtesy hmmmm???

Cheers
