Well you didnt emphasis "MY" and I havent trawled through your history of posts to get an update on your life and that of your X5 - so taking your post on face value, my comments are not out of place. IMHO

abi also end their auctions early as recently they have been getting poor pricing for a set of 4 212's in a recent auction..guess they misunderstand what an auction on ebay means !!

Would'nt believe it.

Been talking to my dealer over the last month or so as I know him quite well.

Just general things on how my new E70 is going compared with all the drama of my old E70.

I mention that this new E70 seemed softer and that the Adaptive Drive was not as firm through corners as the last one.

I had to have the lights lifted on the low beam as they did not project far enough forward at 100kph.

The X5 handled a little different between having a full tank of fuel and empty whereas the old E70 did not.

There was some sort of a very low audible clunk or thud in the frontend when turning the steering wheel from side to quickly when not under load at around 60kph. (you had to have the radio off to detect it)

Under heavy cornering I could feel the LHD wheel tucking under though a tight corner.more that the right wheel.

You know if I had not had a previous E70 with Adaptive Drive you would have not picked it, I took the service manger for a drive.

Said yeah there is something there, 4 hours later the frontend pulled out the X5 awaiting a new Adaptive Drive front electronic swaybar, couplings and bushes to be frown out from Germany.

The service manager could not believe it until he got the unit out and tested it.

Damn and this one was driving straight too.

I LOVE adaptive drive, in fact I was going to write up a post about it and active steering the other day after driving a loaner that didn't have either.

What happened was I bought style 239 rims a couple of weeks after I took delivery instead of at the same time, so I didn't have to lump out even more LCT than I already had on the vehicle purchase. I dropped my 3.0sd off to have the wheels changed over and they gave me a 3.0d with 800k's on the clock. For starters I pulled out of the driveway and had to turn the wheel excessively (seemingly) to just make the right-hand turn

And then the ride and cornering felt... ordinary to say the least.
It's funny because when I first test-drove some X5's they had neither option but I felt that they had quite a nice drive and were reasonably sporty given the weight and dimensions. Now after driving my own around for a month with adaptive drive and active steering it makes the standard vehicle feel so plain in comparison.

It got me thinking that if I was BMW, I would want all my vehicles to come with those options standard even if it meant a higher ticket price - the improvement in handling and ride is so immense, and I'd want my cars to be known for that.

Fair enough..if BMW had a standard 5 year warranty I might of got it..

4000k's and the front adaptive drive swaybar needs replacing, I think I will be getting the extended warranty at the end of the two years when the standard warranty runs out if I still own it.

I think in two years BMW may have a diesel/electric SUV X5 by then the way fuel prices are going. They have a concept X6 with it don't they?
