Ty OB. Yes. Unfortunately I do have DSP and Nav.

I have a DDPai m6 plus front dash cam now. It’s at least 1080p, if not 4K. I was hoping I could use something more modern that a 720p camera.

Excellent list of options. Puts things into perspective. It is actually not that bad. Ty again OB.

I agree that 1080p to 4K is now a standard in video but the 720p still looks really good. Then only thing I will ever need that DVR for will be in the event of a traffic incident and at that point even 480i would still tell the story.

Let us know if you go with the Avant-4 system, we have already paved a trail for you...

PX6 vs. PX5 Avant-4

Just a PSA for anyone considering a PX6 Avant-4 for the E53 X5. The new PX6 has a completely different chassis with the main circuit boards offset to the left.

One thing I really liked about the Avant-4 PX5 was that it had the main boards centered to the chassis and was nearly a single DIN chassis that required only the slightest of modification to the dash bracket that is on all Business CD with Mid. Factory navigation owners will not have any plastic bracketing so not an issue for you guys.

Personally, I kept everything as close to stock as I could on my PX5 install and I could return to Business CD and mid if I ever wanted to, the brackets were still there and could support the original components just like before.

If I were to modify my dash brackets for the PX6, I would have to cut everything out to the left side and while this would allow the PX6 to fit, I would never be able to return to the factory Business CD and Mid.

It seems now that the Avant-4 PX6 4416 will fit all E38, E39 and E53 models with a different outer frame depending on the model.

Just food for thought for anyone considering a PX6 Avant-4 starting without factory navigation.

I have a PX6 Avant-4 running Android 9 sitting in a box now...

So I watched the video in the first post and I've also tried reading all of the PDFs from Avin...

But I'm a bit stuck my car has navigation and DSP

I've routed the six meter harness all the way to the back I have all these extra plugs but nowhere do I see that it is covered on what plug goes where..

Currently I have unplugged the quad lock from the factory radio I guess that's what it's called... And when I unplugged it that plug has a bunch of wires going into it but there's no spade openings on the back it just has these little blue locks on them so I can't plug a harness into it..

I can plug one of the quad locks into the factory radio am I supposed to plug in two harnesses?

Does one go to the factory radio and one go to the factory harness? And am I supposed to remove something from the factory harness like a blocking plate or something?

Keep the blue blocks in there. I have never tried it but I suspect you actually CAN keep your radio plugged in the back with the quadlock they supply. The OE quadlock will plug into the one on the right in your image. The one on the left I suspect can plug into the OE radio which should keep your DSP amplifier power working all the time with no need for Resler USB interface.
This is a theory, I have not tried it personally. Avin supplies 4 quad locks. 2 are for early model E53's (disregard these) and 2 are for late model (male/female versions). Please try this and report back. I'd love to pin a comment on the YT video noting that the Resler interface is NOT required to maintain power to the DSP amp.

Hopefully that clears it up.

Edit: I suspect that you have a spade or pin that is slightly bent, preventing you from seating the harness. Take a close look at them and gently straighten any necessary pins.

Unfortunately the oe quad lock in my picture that has the blue locks. It doesn't plug into either of the 2 Avin quad locks in my picture.

The oe quad lock in the picture has blue locks which means only the top two smaller plugs were being used even plugged into the radio. With those blue locks in place I can't plug it in. Even if I removed the blue locks, None of the Avin quad locks have pins that accept the top two plugs

Is it possible they sent me the wrong 6M extension cable?

is there a special 6M extension cable for the NAv cars with DSP compared to NAV cars without DSP?

I Made sure to check mark DSP with my order.

Those blue sections are not "block offs." They are where the spade pins from the quadlock slide into (the Avin one on the right in your pic). You can just see the 16 openings for the spade pins around the blue blocks. It will slide in. If you look at that one compared to the pinouts on the factory radio... they match. It is a TIGHT fit if memory serves.

Does anyone know if the dynavin n6 extension cable (for cars with navigation that runs from front to back) can be used with avin4?

Thank you very much you were right I guess I was just overthinking the block off plates thinking that we're block off plates when in fact they were just something else. I did have to unplug and reseat the cables because it's such a tight fit that some of the pins kept getting pushed out on the Avin harness side.

Everything's plugged in Good to go and works properly.

I love that you can set the folding mirrors as an option for comfort close.
something is wrong with I think my driver's side mirror and whenever I use the button to fold the mirrors it bounces back however this new head unit overrides that bounce back feedback and just closes them lol so now my mirror is closed automatically or fold in every time I turn the car off.

One thing I'm really sad about was I was really looking forward to downloading the YouTube TV app Disney plus app and Netflix app.

When I first installed the radio and turned on Wi-Fi I signed into Google play and immediately searched for Disney plus YouTube TV and Netflix it found them and it started downloading them.... Then Google play services updated and after that it removed those apps and it doesn't even show them in the play store.

If I go to play.google.com and search for it there I find it but when I say install to my new Android device and the X5 it says is no longer compatible.

so that's really unfortunate Netflix and Disney plus are not compatible but YouTube TV is.

Netflix was not available on my Google Play for my Avin either. I believe Hulu is but have not tried it yet.
