I wish they were around to help but one is in college and one is working on his family, plus we're all in different countries.

Should have spent more time under the BMW instead...

Summer months I have the dealer put in the "M" oil which I believe is 10W-60. I use Castrol Edge 5W-50 for supplemental adds - about one quart every 1400 miles.

Winter months I go with the 5W-30 on the dealer oil change and use Castrol Edge 10W-40 for the supplemental adds. Those tend to come every 1000 miles with the thinner base.

I change every 7500 to 8000 miles.

rebuilt the beast, ticked over perfectly , rev to 2.5 to 3k , it screamed at me , pulley or belt scream, ordered new belt and a new tensioner, as you could grab the belt and pull at least 3 inch of slack the tensioner just leg it go,
oh and I fixed my rear passengers window

Spent the day replacing the drive belt with hydraulic tensioner and pulley, AC belt with tensioner and pulley, idler pulley, water pump, power steering hoses and reservoir. She had been making a squeaking sound running and at 163,000 miles I was sure it needed this service. The water pump looked and felt good but it was a no-brainer to replace it with this mileage since with everything apart, it was only 4 nuts for peace of mind. The power steering reservoir hoses has been slowly leaking directly on my alternator so I was glad I caught it in time. All in all a fun day just wrenching on the girl. Next up, the dreaded ball joints.

Thank you trentcdrums, I did indeed watch it in its entirety when you posted it. I will attempt the removal and since mine is a southern car, it has literally no rust under there. I just did all the 4 piece control arms kit back in April.
