Working on my car is like a box of chocolates, ya never what ya gonna get.

Getting my new tires mounted and balanced, the shop showed me on of my front rims was repaired, showed a small weld on the outer rim of the inside. SMH, FML....

A bit surprising but if you aren't racing or hard core off roading I wouldn't have a problem with it. The load is spread out pretty even on the tire bead. some quick napkin math shows an estimate of 5500# of force on the bead and 58" of bead on an 18" rim meaning a static load of less than 100# per linear inch. A weld in aluminum thick as a rim can easily handle that.

28" wheel diameter minus 18" rim diameter 30psi was about 11,000# force. Half held by the tread half by the rim 5500# ish.

If the rim is already dealing with 11000# of force (both sides) the additional weight of the car is only 11-15% more than when lifted off the ground. Impacts like pot hole will likely not amount to much more than double the weight of the car so 22-30% more than static load. The sidewall will act like spokes to distribute the load evenly around the rim so you don't have to worry about that one spot taking much extra load when hitting the bottom.

Short story--rims are repaired all the time. If you are concerned take it to place that repairs rims and have them evaluate quality of repair and any risk.

I'm fine with it, I send wheelsnto get repaired all the time and even drive on bent wheels on my other beaters. Just wasn't aware and p/o-seller failed to mention it to me.

That sucks that you weren't aware from the previous owner. Maybe, though, the previous owner didn't even know because he was never told as the owner before never told them.

Filled up with 24.5 gallons of go juice at BJ's just now. $2.87 per gallon for 93.

Drove 504 miles on last fill up 8 days ago. Nearly 22 MPG.

Installed my backup camera this morning before the snow hits. Just couldn't see this thing sitting on my desk for the next 5 weeks while I wait for my //Avin Avant-3 system to arrive so I took the opportunity to get this time consuming process out of the way .

Getting the wires through the snorkel boot from the rear fuse box and run nicely through the upper hatch, drilling and mounting the camera took about 3 hours taking my time and cleaning up as I went along. I have the wires tucked away next to the rear fuse box and will wire the power and ground and run the RCA cable to the front a little later. It was getting f'ing cold out there, I couldn't feel my fingers...

I'm pretty happy with the camera. 120 degree FOV and clear for standard definition. It looks crappy from my phone picture through a cheap stand alone monitor but it looks great on the monitor itself. At least I know the routing and wiring was a success and the mirror reverse image is correct! I cut the wire for the parking lines and plan to have the option to turn them on or off in the app.

Another option- drill a hole in the truck and run the wire directly to the backup camera. Secure using the existing slot in the trailer hitch cover so it is centered between the parking distance sensors.
