No audio output on CDC selection

Well I removed the radio again, and pulled the cable going into the CD changer section. Using a couple test probes I hooked it up to a ghetto blaster and got sound, but when plugged into the radio no sound output. When I switch to the CD changer mode I get CD CHECK and then the station on the display, but I don't even get static on the radio. I guess it's possible I've got a bad radio, but in the CD changer install instructions I see it has to be activated, does the activation enable the input on the radio? or do I have to try and get BMW to repair/replace my radio.

Thanks

Gary

Just to verify - you're tried both 6-pin connectors? Also - are you using the HD DICE or standard DICE?

I will also need to know the iPod generation and firmware you are testing with.

Tom,

I'm using the HD-DICE kit. No IPOD right now just the (HD)radio. I tried both 6 pin plugs in the console and even went as far as to pull the radio and check that I had music at the connector plugged into the back of the radio. The radio controls the HD-DICE. The DICE puts out music which is wired into the radio but no sound. Is there anything that needs to be done to enable the CD changer inputs at the radio or do I need to look at getting BMW to repair/replace my radio. I'll have a new 30 Gig Photo arriving tommorrow. I can try that, but don't expect it would make any difference.

Thanks

Gary

iPhone Works....mostly

I don't understand the iPhone comments. I have been using it in my X since the Thursday after the launch.

I connect the unit to the tether and the 'not a compatible device' message comes up. I select ok and use the iPhone to control the music selection as normal.

I would love to control it from the steering wheel and see the album covers on the nav screen, but in the interim this is ok.

Are you entering airplane mode when prompted?

Gary,

Let's try with the new iPod - give me a cell from your X3 and we'll run down some troubleshooting in real time.

No I am not. Unlike when I hook it to my JBL clock/radio, there is no static produced when the phone accesses the wireless network. So I do not put it into Airplane Mode, nor am I prompted.

Check the settings on your phone to be sure - every iPhone we've tested asks to be placed in airplane mode when connected.

Alright, so now it works, 60% of the time, perfectly, with text and everything with my nano. Still nothing with my video though. I tested it with an fm transmitter that uses the dock port on the bottom, and it works perfectly, so Im assuming its not the iPod.

Help?

It could be a corrupted OS. Make sure you have a backup of your music and perform a restore on the iPod.
