Problem with '06 BMW X5 non-dsp with Sirius
Purchased an IPod intergration kit a year ago to install in my '01 X5 with DSP. I have now installed the unti into another X5 ('06 non DSP but with Sirius). The kit was never installed into the '01 X5 and now I have installed the wiring loom and the IPod specdoc in the ashtray. The device does not have power (or work) and I have read I requrie another wire (or kit) to complete the hook-up since I have Sirius radio. Of course I have not hooked up the DSP filter as I do not require it on my '06 X5. I have connected the correct three pin wire (brown wire on the outside) and still not working. To complicate things worse (and I do not know if it matters) I have the Sirius disconected and the BMW IPod cable installed by my dealer. Plus the vehicle has factory installed bluetooth capabilities (no telephone installed but use my mobile). Please advise what else I am required to do to complete the install. The DICE module I am using is I-BMW-T - DL-1002 - SN A00025-0606. Cheers, Chip |

Problem with '06 BMW X5 non-dsp with Sirius
Tom,
Thanks for the reply. Yep, first thing I did when I noticed there was no power. The fuse is good. Any other ideas? Chip |

1. Disconnect iPod from cable 2. Remove battery cables, negative first 3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system. 4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes 5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last. 6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed. Let me know if these steps correct the problem, if not - we can make arrangements to have the module replaced if still under warranty.

DICE/Spec Dock Troubles
Tom,
Tried the troubleshooting as described but no luck. A couple questions though. 1. After reconnecting the battery am I to have the IPod in the Spec Dock before rebooting the IPod? 2. Which Dice cable are your referring to? The cable going to the Spec Doc or the six pin cable caoming from the back? Still have no power or any kind of life from the Spec Doc, DICE module or the cabling from the back. Any further advice? Please advise. Cheers, Chip |

Also verify the brown wire on the BMW 3-pin connector is in the #1 position and not the middle.

DICE Troubles
Tom,
Thanks for the continuing assistance. The 2 amp fuse is good and the brown wire is on the side of the three pin connector. If I do not use the Spec doc I will not be able to hook the IPod to the DICE module. Is the an after market IPod connector I can purchase to hook up to the DICE module? Please advise. Cheers, Chip |
