8% in 8 hours, something wrong there, It should do a disc in less than 20 minutes.

Hope this helps

The 8% in 8 hours isnt the OS this is the newest maps. I checked the OS and it says its only 1.8?? Doesnt that change when you upgrade the OS. I might be getting that from my pld map DVD, but im not too sure.

Damn BMW has to be complicated...

Oh yeah i changed the hiden menu one i didnt know there is another one i have to select. I will give that a try

thanks

Something is wrong here.

I would expect the OS to write a disc at single speed in less than 10 minutes and the map disc should take no longer than 20-25 minutes (at 2x speed), my writer takes less than 16 minutes to do the 2007-2 EURO map disc, the 2007-2 NA disc is only a little larger, so no more than 20 minutes tops.

1.8? you have a mk4 dvd right, it should read 4-1/91 (if you have done v.29).

Question

Hmm,

I'm wondering that no one is talking about V30 It is available but people say there is no difference to V29.1. I guess I will install it next week and see if there is any difference

Red face

I do not have V30 personally!I will see my BMW electrician and he will update my MKIV if the system will flash. He said there is no difference to 29.1 for the MKIV so maybe there is nothing to update

Hello,

(please understand I'm a total newbie...) 2 days ago I got my first BMW. It is a '04 ///M3. It has the NAV system, but I barely understand how to use it as I'm still getting through the manual. Some of the questions I have may seem rather elementary but,...How do I know which version of the nav o/s I have? What are the advantages to updating it if needed? Does the CD or DVD I found in the trunk NAV/DVD player need to stay in there? What does it do? I also want to learn how to play my ipod through the Stereo/NAV head. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,
J

Like any computer program: fixes bugs, introduces new features.

Yes, it is the map. You need to ensure the map for your area is inserted. eg: If I am in Australia, the nav won't know the Australian roads if I insert a European map.

Can be done. I am hooking my video ipod up to the TV AV input so I get picture and sound, even though sound will be mono.

There are many interfaces for an ipod in a BMW - google for them,
