My response was not to label anyone party-line voting Democrats (or Republican) though I can see how it could be taken as such. It was to point out that no matter how much we all get our panties in a bunch over how big a moron Trump is, or how corrupt he is... the next administration might only be marginally better. Nobody wants to do what needs to be done. Increase revenue (taxes) and decrease spending (gov't waste and social spending). Either party suggesting either of those paths is committing political suicide, so we have quagmire. A downward spiral following the path of republics who have come before us.

Your points are well taken. Sidebar-I don't think I can stand another administration that is only marginally better that this one. Comedians have so much material to work with from this administration they may be OK with a similar administration-sidebar ends. Political suicide is certainly a major factor hindering unpopular decisions. I do think some of the hard decisions are addressed when the House and Senate majority and President are of the same party.

I remember a couple of other times I felt this same doom and gloom. I don't recall shockers and outrageous behavior on almost on a daily basis but bad things usually fade over time. In previous turning points the majority of Americans ultimately endorsed the right direction for the country. I think that will happen again but I don't think that will be soon since there is so much anger in the division of the country that we can't get past.

I am right there hoping with you. *fingers crossed*

I'm just worried that social media and the MSM (and our education system) has dumbed the average citizen to the point of being incapable of seeing the forest from the trees. I used to be very optimistic but as time has gone by I am much more cynical towards our politicians (and voters) and their policies.

I weep that there are supporters of either party in their current forms. Neither wants to do what is best for the country.
This is my fear as I stated before because once it becomes tit-for-tat death (civil war) will be the only remedy and once that starts it will encompass every single person's pet peeve against whatever issue i.e. race, religion, sexual orientation not just political views.

I think the issue is there are 'extremists' in both parties that will not agree with anything proposed by the other party and will not negotiate. It has gone beyond differences in opinion, Standard operation procedure is to hold the party line or be ostracized or slandered for breaking ranks. I think the core of House and Senate are reasonable people that would like to do the right thing. In general the far right and far left are too far out to contribute to good decisions.

There's a vote of no confidence in Trump's leadership in many American's mind.

I'm one of them.

Which makes it very hard to take stock in anything he says or do.

I would just move on and wait for the next president to hopefully restore our confidence in the leadership.

Stuart Stevens, a longtime GOP campaign strategist came out with a new book " It Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump."

That's why I posted a link to CBS news although I can go back and find the cspan link. Hopefully the video link is still showing the hearing and not just soundbites.

I think we should focus on the coming election and who is going to win.

Post office is run by a Trump supporter now. And the success or failure of mail in ballot is going to have a major impact on the outcome of the election.

I’m really uncomfortable that Trump is trying very hard to influence the operation of the post office to his own benefit.

I despise that everything is politicized now. The post office should be there as a service to Americans. Frankly, I'm not sure how they aren't making money. Trump's crony removing processing machines makes no sense to me as it would seem to go against his reasoning for doing so. To cut costs. Those machines are sunk investment and, I'd imagine, that they actually serve to lower costs when it comes to processing. But I don't have actual numbers or info in front of me either.

Nepotism is a large part in how the world operates. At every level. I don't blame Trump for appointing supporters. I do blame him for appointing people who have no experience in the field they were appointed. THAT is my problem with his appointees and cabinet. Not that he hires friends, family, supporters, etc. If they knew what they were doing... by all means.

I am disappointed with Biden's VP pick, but I don't think it will hurt him too much. The upcoming months are going to be a sh*t show though.
