Even the single turbo diesel 30d has more low speed response than the 4.8. The twin turbo 35d is marginally stronger than the 30d at low rpm but really exerts its authority at higher (+3000) rpm.

Can anyone recommend a good non-dealer mechanic in Darwin for an X5 3.0D?

Tyres

Just about Tyres: X5 2007, 19" wheels , I scrapped the Run Flat's and installed Pirelli 255/50R19 Scorpion zero, load index 107 , $560.- each. It's fantastic very very smooth no more bumping all the time and very little noise. Now it is the 125k vehicle. Thanks to Conquest Tyrepower Adelaide. The owner puts a lot of time in searching for the best tyre. phone 8340 1404

With people just starting to take delivery of their cars this week, they're probably too busy enjoying this awesome vehicle to post just yet. But anyway...

How many Australian owners out there have taken delivery and what vehicle specification do you have?

We have just traded in our Mercedes E320 and our car docks on the 6th of May so we should be taking deliver by the 20th at the latest...hopefully. It's a 3.0D Executive Sports in Space Grey with the Camel Interior and Dark Burl Wood trim. I can hardly wait.

While we were looking to order a custom vehicle, the waiting time and great deal we got on this dealer specced vehicle arving in less than a month prompted us to seal the deal. 2 compromises were made however. The car we are getting does not have the comfort seats or the Hi Fi 12 system. Instead it has the 7 seat option (which isn't bad since we were going to order the rear air suspension anyway) and the DVD entertainment system.

My main concerns/questions:
1. How bad/ok is the standard sound system on Australian vehicles? 6 speakers seems very substandard on a vehicle of this price. I've heard though it may be 6 speakers and 2 subs. Can anyone confirm?

2. Does anyone have the rear entertainment system? Is it capable of playing the cars T.V input while on the move?

3. What is the latest I-drive version that I should be making sure the dealer uploads before delivery?

4. Has anyone in the past gotten BMW's leather and paint protection and is it worth it?

I hope as we start getting our vehicles we can all contribute and make this an informative thread.

Cheers!
I had the total 5th dimension package, outside and inside I am happy witj it. It is 2 years old now and still easy to wash etc. BMW tell me I should still put a coat of polish on it from time to time.

Although I only lurk here now, I confirm these tyres are quite good. They were the standard fitment on my 08 Volvo XC70 and in a 235/50R18, at 50,000kms are only half worn !

X Pipe in Oz

Hi Australian X5 lovers...

Don't want to hijack this thraed but reading through seems that many people add new topics to bounce of other Aussies. Anyway thought I would give it a shot...

After reading through the forum I got very interested in the x pipe mod (resonator delete). I purchased a magnaflow x pipe from the US and shipped it over. My courage has now left me and I am in 2 minds as to whether to put it on. I am not a boy racer (I am 34) and simply wanted a bit deeper sound and marginal performance increase as others have suggested they have achieved with an x pipe install. Now I love my X5 and I am scared about doing the install in case I do not like the sound. As such I have 2 questions:

1) Has anybody on this forum in Australia done it?
2) If so, are you in Sydney - would love to hear in person if possible if anybody open to that
3) Again if so, how much did it cost to install? I have had a quote of approx $270. Guys on the general forum have had it done in the US for $80USD so my quote seems way off.

Thanks!!

discount from list

I'm about to buy an X5 in Melbourne and was wondering what discounts people have been receiving off list price recently?
I also plan to buy via the corporate program.
any help appreciated.
