You're probably right. Estoril was a rare bird indeed I think on LCI trucks. Lemans blue aero 4.8 would still be pretty nice.

There are different "secret sauces" to mitigate valve stem seal issues. I use Lucas oil treatment and At205 along with slightly heavier oil personally. My VSS need to be done at some point. I'll probably do it when I do the Xover pipe and valve cover gaskets. I have all the parts for a major engine service including those mentioned above sitting here ready to go in a giant box. Sooooo someday it will all get done. :D

I had error for over a year on wife's until I finally figured out where that unconnected plug by the right headlight was!

Stupid system still lights up the auc light on the button when non functional that's a pretty big miss on the programmer's part!

I have monitored auc live when driving through construction zone and it does in fact do exactly as designed and closed the fresh air flaps within moments of getting near fresh asphalt. (also I did not smell it at all).

I think it will close for 3 minutes at a time with heat and 10 with AC. May have that backwards.

I hope you get ur wife to help you take the maintenance videos/ pictures and post it on youtube. Maybe get a good subscription going, and make some $$

And good luck on that pending E53 acquisition!

Sounds like a pretty good sensor to have. Is it a difficult part to replace? Maybe I should check and see if mine works.

The scanner I use (foxwell) will show realtime values of the AUC. You can bring up the air flap and auc at the same time and when voltage on the sensor is over 2.5 I think the flap closes. You could probably open a can of paint thinner near the "nose" to trip the sensor and watch the process live.

I don't think there are parts that wear over time since both ours are still working. I love the feature and often notice not smelling the fresh asphalt as I drive past construction.

Extremely easy to access on M54. It locks info the side of the fan shroud on the right side near the headlight and above the AC compressor.

Hard to make money on YouTube now unless you are treating it like a fairly full time gig and learn video editing. They changed their policies January '19 that destroyed a lot of the small informational channels. You need a minimum now of 1000 subs (I think) and over 4000 hours watched over a runnin g12 month period. I used to get a $100 check every year or so...

But I have been thinking of doing more diy stuff as the kids are getting older. Maybe I'll post some videos. But won't count on making any money. :D

That is some good info! Thanks!
