Great minds - so this was the surprise ?

Now I'm excited, especially if you get it going with DSP

I bought the Xtrons version of this from Amazon for 379.99 which allowed returns. (cost $16 to ship back so it was worth the gamble)

There's 2 problems with this unit:

1. It won't work with DSP units. If you don't have DSP or Nav then this is definitely plug and play and I felt that it was definitely much snappier than the 5.1 Eonon I have.

2. The height of this unit is 120mm. The e53 unit is 128mm. Installed, there will be a substantial gap at the bottom of the unit if you decide to use the mounting screws, definitely not a gap I could live with. If I didn't use the screws and just rested it on the bottom, with the gap up top at the air vent level, it was less noticeable but then arises the issue of keeping it mounted.

If you don't have DSP or Nav they do make an e53 compatible faceplate. https://www.amazon.com/XTRONS-Octa-C...rds=xtrons+e53

I really wish the e39 face would fit because I do think it looks considerably better than the e53 layout, both in pictures, and in person

The only hope for me is for Eonon to hurry up and release a unit with 2gb ram/ 8core processors. Hope this helps!

^^^That helps a ton wow!

I have no problem with the Dynavin unit for my DSP E53 personally, even if its not Android and is a few hundred bucks more - Avin will take a while with the Avant 3 (not even out for E46 yet), and NBT is about 3x more than a Dynavin so that is probably what I'll end up with -

+1 GREAT info! Thanks!

My plan for the E53 is to drop DSP and use my own amps. I've already bought the amp I intend for the left and rt. I already have the sub amp installed. When I am done, I will have exactly what I said less than 90 days ago that I never would.

And that, my friends. THAT is what happens when we open the box belonging to Pandora.

Have not read the entire thread but seeing props avenue of 3rd party amps...
FWIW, I've tried 10 zillion ways and the floor noise on the E53 is hard to get rid of.

This was the only thing that solved it...

Yikes! Maybe I can't hear this noise? I mean, I heard some terrible sounds with the amp BSW sent. It's fine with the new JL amp. Hope I don't start new problems with another amp when I remove DSP. That would suck.
