Anyone willing to mail a CD with the lastest OS on it to New Mexico?

I'll pay postage of course.

Thanks,

Lawrence

Probably you have a corrupted image of the update software. I followed the instructions and it worked for me. PM me and I can look for the instructions I used.

Just beeing curious but If You do not manage to do it Yourself and You do not have somebody in Your area to help why don't You stop by Your local BMW dealership? It takes them 5 minutes to update and if You are a valued customer it is only a tip to pay

Quite simply because most dealerships will not do it for you if nothing is "wrong" with the version you have. As noted in the Service Information Bulletin:

In other words, if the dealership does it for you, and something goes wrong during the update, it means the dealership would have to "eat" the cost of repair or replacement... and most dealerships are not willing to take that risk.

Thumbs up

i just completed the upgrade. 2005 X5 4.4i

downloaded the file from megaupload
unrar the file with winrar
downloaded and installed imgburn
run imgburn and choose the "v29.mds" file in the directory where the files were unrar'ed
choose "write" in the mode menu
choose write speed: "1x"
click the rectangle button with the cd drive and arrow pointinig to the cd in the middle of the imgburn screen
cd written and completed

go to x5
open door (leave it open)
turn ignition key to position 1
go to dvd and remove map dvd
insert new v29 cd
cd is recognized by system and nav screen tells you it is loading program
nav system screen tells you it will take 6 minutes to update
screen goes black for a minute or two
a progress screen appears on nav screen and blue bar moves across until complete
tells you it is complete and to remove cd and verify "ok" (push right console button)
it tells you system will reboot..it does. (the program took only about 3 minutes to update)
i put the map cd back in the dvd drive while it was rebooting
checked the version in settings = sw 4-1/91
while in settings screen, held down menu button for 10 seconds to get to secret menu
scroll down to choices not shown on first secret menu screen
highlighted "perspective" and hit right button
turned perspective "on"

maps looks crisper and more detailed, pointer is a triangle inside a more noticeable circle. all screens on the nav are clearer and brighter.

success!

Hi All

I'am running a MK4 with a moded V27.1 in my range rover and considering up dating the operating system to V29, but due to the risks involved i'am not shure about the benifits i would see, has anyone done this and if so is it worth taking the risk, my system is operating ok and i have the 2007.2 DVD with speed cameras, any advice please
