I am just over the Left vs. Right debate and everyone pretending both sides aren't two faces of the same monster. We, the majority citizens are the ones suffering and shouldering the burdens of their mind-numbing b*tching at each other. I don't care the issue, neither side will agree to compromise on anything, guns, police violence, abortion, government spending, welfare reform, campaign reform, education reform, etc. The public majority has said it wants action in these areas. They don't get anything done and it's starting to cause festering wounds throughout the country.
And unfortunately I can only see it getting worse. Wait until there is a vaccine. There may not be enough to go around or the distribution plan is a disaster. No one knows how many will be needed or where so it's easy to screw it up. Hopefully since the vaccine has been expedited there won't be terrible reactions because it could go to full stop while both sides argue to continue to use the same vaccine at your own risk or discard the vaccine for a new one that goes through the full approval process. If there is ample vaccine and there are no problems with it, millions may want it immediately and overrun the health system. If China or Russia has a vaccine that is more effective that will be another argument over whether to buy it and is it safe to use. That will have longterm repercussions about that whichever the decision.

The virus is just the catalyst. It exposes the deeper problem of racial divide and our society's inability to adapt and change our ways to counter new problems.

People are going to say, well, we have our ways of dealing with issues. It's worked before, I don't see any reason why it wont work this time.

Guess again.

Sorry. I meant to say that sticking with the established routine isn't going to help us in the new age.

More types of virus are going to come out. As the increasing human population continue to stress the environment of all living organisms on this planet.

We basically got a "F" in this first crash course for pandemic survival. We need to learn and adapt, or we'll go away really quickly.

The human species won't be wiped out. I agree we have overpopulated, so if there had to be a silver lining... Maybe this coronavirus is a slight correction? It's a dark thought, but there are only a finite amount of resources to support us all.

I think if anything ends the human race, it will be the human race.

Back to politics. Went for a drive today with the wife looking for area of town for a potential investment property as we near finishing off our current debts. It's amazing how many political signs are up this year in upper middle class neighborhoods ($250-350k homes) here in San Antonio. Both Trump and Biden were heavily represented, as were all the down ballot candidates. But, the notable thing was once we went to areas of more affordable housing ($150-200k), there were virtually none. This was in neighborhoods literally across the street from each other in some cases. It was an observation that supports my theory that the "everyman/woman" citizen is too busy surviving to indulge the luxury of arguing politics with the neighbors. The majority citizens are shouldering the burden of the strife created in Washington no matter which party is in office. The system really and truly is broken. Was just interesting to see it illustrated like that.

I was really thinking of America instead of the whole human population.

The smart ones will learn and adapt. Not so sure about the average Americans.

As we've found out these last couple of months. There's just too many idiots who fail to learn the lesson and follow the "inconvenient" health guidelines.

It sucks that the Trump machine continues to advertise bs conspiracy theories, pinning the woes of the average citizens on the other parties.

I think the democrats also do the same thing, just perhaps not as reckless and baseless as the other side at the moment.

Listening to the Republican rising star Eric Trump giving a campaign speech is the equivalent of listening to the orientation speech of a cult for the Trump utopia.

The saddest part is there's no bipartisan efforts to solve major social / economic problems in this country.

The ultimate goal of any political decision is to win the election and once done, to continue maintaining that power.

Woodward got the confession out of Trump. His interview exposed his true knowledge of the virus way back in February.

Yet he lied to his supporters, told them this is nothing but a democrat's hoax.

He told the public that the virus will simply go away, when he a;ready knew that it wont.

His inaction and lies directly caused the massive amounts of casulties regular americans suffered during this pandemic, and continue to suffer as a result.

I don't know why it is not obvious to the average citizens this person simply isn't fit to run the country.

And I don't know why we still have to worry about him having the possibility of running it another 4 years.

i'm just so dissappointed.

Confession..? There was no crime committed.

I am continually perplexed, at how you believe a single individual holds responsibility for this pandemic in the USA. And, if there is a single individual totally responsible for this pandemic, and that’s a big “IF”, China is the most likely candidate.

Probably because that’s your personal opinion.

Go back and review the statements made by Pelosi, Biden, and other Democrats during the same time Trump made the statement to Woodward, or as you call it, a confession.

That is a personal problem.

I think it's a crime for a public official to lie to the american people. Don't you?

It's a crime to say the virus isn't a serious threat and that it will just blow over when you know, through all your intels, that IT IS!

He's lied to us repeatedly throughout the entire month of March, April, on and on to this day.

That is not a personal opinion, that's the fact.

Displayed glaringly on our faces each and every single day.

To defend what he's said in that interview, well....

Not sure that's such a good idea right now.

Here's NPR's coverage of the fallout from woodward's February interview with Trump.

When you make comments like, “you don’t understand why it’s not obvious to average citizens”? You are coming across as if you have a higher intelligence than other people.

It’s offensive.
