When my White M-Sport X5 arrives at Motorline BMW it will be there for a good week, we are taking the brake calipher's off and getting them painted yellow along with the hub rotors (my ///M brake decals finally arrived today), also the rear black mudflaps are getting painted white as well to match the white bumpers

And finally any white area's under the guard's are being painted matte black, and all grills will be matte black as well and the final touch will be 20% (black) tint.

I also have ready the 8500k foglight & angel eye bulbs as well and yes you guessed it, my special slimline Black on White number plates came today also!

I think I have everything I need unless you can think of something?

cooooooooool, you got to post the pics when finished...

one question , how are you painting the mud flaps? these are rubber mud flaps that you can bend easily with your hand... im not sure if the paint will hold... get back to me!

I went out and purchased a new iphone when they came out a year ago and a cradle from bmw a short while later with no problems at all. Love the phone and no issues with syncing or reception.

I don't use the cradle as I kept forgetting my phone (out of sight out of mind) when I got out.... I was over opening and closing the console as well....

I have a Blackberry Bold with the latest firmware and it syncs almost instantly with very good sound etc. Have never had a drama with it... it stays in my pocket and the operation is seamless.

Cheers

yup.... my wife and I both have the same phone and we have just paired them in each car to suit who is driving.... ie when we use the X as the family car (weekends) I am usually driving so my phone book is up...

these are our second BB's (had one of the originals) and phone problems don't occur since we went that way (wife was a skeptic until BB Curve)

Cheers

Hi Watrob

Must admit your X5 sd sounds loaded ...well done. I'm looking at SD but given we are so close to 2010 order update (in about 4 months or so) I'll likley wait and get something delivered in Jan 2010.

Just a question on sport vs non sport - is the adaptive drive that good? its bloody expensive but sounds great. I want to get 20' wheels (as they are the only ones that look good IMHO) but worred that its only available as sport and that may make daily ride a bit harsh etc ... I was starting to head back to idea of getting 19's in a non sport to save $$ and perhaps get a more comfortable ride ..but then again I would have though appeal of getting SD over standard 3.0d is the performance factor and therefore want to be able to corner better etc ..interested in your view as we'll likely hold our car for 4-5 yrs ....

also - I think white is the new black ..love it ..but also love lighter interior rather than black (all my BM's have been black inside ..want to get something to lift the mood a bit) ..did you go blac interior? I've noted a few white ext with camel interior (and even one with white ext and beige int) ..but dealers say dont do it as they dont look good together ....thoughts?

Hi Anzer,

If your going to keep the X5 4 -5 yrs go for the Adaptive Drive & Active Steering and yes get the minor face lift Oct 09 production as it will have the new iDrive. So a Jan 2010 build date would arrive by the end of Feb 2010.

I got black interior as I want the black murdered look on a white car, just finished my black matte kidney grills today, no chrome surround.

As for a white interior, my daughter has a current 3 series m-sport white with white interior, you just have to look at the white interior and it gets dirty, my new X5 is a DD so that would diffinitely be out.

Back to Adaptive Drive, a smoother X5 than the sports suspension version and hardly leans in the corners and that's what adaptive drive is all about. A adaptive drive X5 with 20" wheels is smoother than a X5 with sports suspension with 19" wheels.

This is my 3rd E70 X5 with adaptive drive and everytime I get a loaner X5 without it you realise how good it is. The sd version has no turbo lag compared to the standard 3.0d but it uses a good litre per 100klm more but at close to 600nm of torque its the pick, but if your just cruising around the city then 3.0d is easier on fuel.

Thanks Watrob

All Good advice - we have kids (young) so agree with the seats getting dirty problem ..but still prefer the lighter colour interior .. the other option we have been thinking about is the plat bronze exterior colour as that seems to suit light interier pretty well and is not the typical black X5 that you see cruising around Melbourne. Love that white though and you save $2k on paint that could go towards adap drive

I test drove a 4.8 yesterday just to get a feel ... once it revs it gets going but must admit for pottering around town I would predict the diesel is more responsive ..have not driven a d or sd yet so don't know ..but suspect you would have an excellent idea by now .. do you notice for example ..when wanting to accelerate from say 40km/h to 60 ..is there a difference level of response btw d and sd? this is where I think I'd be willing to pay the extra for sd ... must admit though when BMW recently updated the 3.0d to do 0-100km/h in 8.1 (was 8.6) I wonder if the difference btw the two was worth the money (as the sd only went from 7.2 down to 7.0 sec when they 'upt it' from 200 to 210kw etc) ....given you can get the 3.0d in non exec mode (base) it could save a lot of money (I dont want NAV etc)... and that money could fund adaptive drive .. thoughts?
